The commitment of the American multinational XPO Logistics to expand its facilities in Llano del Espartal confirms this Alicante industrial estate as a logistics and distribution center. The mayor, Luis Barcala, visited this Wednesday the new facilities of the company, which will move a thousand pallets a day and generate a hundred jobs, direct and indirect, in the city.
The mayor has thus supported the investment made in Alicante and highlighted “the attractiveness of our city for leading companies in their sectors that also provide technological and sustainable solutions”.
XPO Logistics has 5,000 square meters in a warehouse in Llano del Espartal with 33 loading docks, which allows it to offer its main services. On the one hand, according to its Regional Director, Luis López, it provides “last mile” services for online commerce. On the other hand, the overnight distribution service for large retail companies, as well as delivery services to large distributors.
The visit was also attended by the Regional Secretary for Sustainable Economy, María Empar Martínez, the Councilor for Employment and Promotion, Mari Carmen de España, and entrepreneurs.
For his part, the general manager of Southern Europe and Morocco XPO, Massimo Marsili, stressed the company’s commitment to sustainability. “We have the Leed Gold green building certificate and we have installed 100 solar panels that will allow us to save 40% in electricity consumption, while we have the latest technology to minimize the carbon footprint in transportation.”
The actions and improvements carried out by the City Council in the Llano del Espartal industrial estate have allowed its modernization and with it the commitment of large companies such as Amazon, which has also installed its logistics station in this industrial estate.

With its commitment to Llano del Espartal, XPO Logistics has nearly 20,000 square meters for its operations in the Valencian Community. At the technological level, the Alicante center has innovative tools to offer its services to individuals and companies.
The company is headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut, and serves 48,000 customers through 558 centers around the world, according to the company.
